The ABC’s of Scripture: AGE (‘This”)- AGE TO COME

AGE

“However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of THIS AGE, nor of the rulers of THIS AGE, who are coming to nothing. But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of THIS AGE knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” – 1 Cor 2;6-8

THIS AGE refers to the age before 70ad. It was the Jewish age under the Old Covenant. It was during ‘THIS AGE’ the judgements would come. “The tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it was at the end of “THIS AGE.” -Matt 13:40. This judgement occurred during Christ’s Parousia ending in 70ad.

His disciples came to Jesus privately on the Mount of Olives and asked Him what would be the sign of His coming and of the END OF THE AGE? – Matt 24:3. THIS AGE was the Jewish age, which would end at the second coming of Christ. It would end at the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple, which did occur in 70ad. Jesus assured His disciples that their generation would not pass away until all these things took place. – Matt 24:34

Christ would come during His Parousia in 66-70 ad, consummating the salvation of His saints, at the end of THIS AGE. He would deliver His saints from that wicked Jewish age in which they were being extremely persecuted.

“Grace to you and peace from God that the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from THIS PRESENT EVIL AGE, according to the will of our God and Father.”- Gal 1:3-4

AGE TO COME

“Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, It will be forgiven of him; but whoever speaks against the HOLY SPIRIT, it will NOT BE FORGIVEN HIM, either in this age or in the AGE TO COME.” – Matt 12:32

The AGE TO COME refers to the New Covanent gospel, kingdom after 70ad. The kingdom is a spiritual kingdom that consist of all born-again Christians, who are redeemed by Christ and have fully consummated salvation.

The AGE TO COME, also includes those elect and non-elect people physically living after 70ad in this human life who are not yet believers in Christ. The elect will spiritually enter the New Covenant spiritual kingdom on an individual basis upon being born-again spiritually.

The AGE TO COME is not referring to heaven, since there are still those outside the spiritual kingdom in this life who commit to unforgiven sin against the HOLY SPIRIT. It is called the Messianic age or kingdom age in which humans are now living physically after 70ad.

All born-again believers receive eternal life in Christ in the AGE TO COME after 70ad. They each receive the HOLY SPIRIT and are individual priests of God in the New Covenant gospel, spiritual kingdom. – Luke 18:29-30. Our mission is to grow in Christ; love one another; spread the gospel; and make new disciples.

ABC’s of Scripture: Adoption & Afterlife.

Adoption is biblical doctrine that allows for all elect believers to become children of God. When God saves us, He not only frees us from the penalty of our own since, but He also ADOPTS us into His family. In that sense, we are ADOBTED heirs with the Jesus only because of HIM. Jesus Christ is our Lord, our Savior, our King, our High Priest, and we are IN HIM by faith.

Jesus owns everything and is blessed with all the promises of God. They are to Him, for Him, and by Him. We are joint heirs with Him because of Christ, we Christians can come confidently to the thrown of God. We call Him “ABBA FATHER”. We inherit the promises of salvation in the everlasting Kingdom.

But when the fullness of the time had come, God send forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the ADOPTION AS SONS and because you are SONS, God has sent forth the SPIRIT of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba Father!” Therefore, you are no longer a slave but a SON, and if a SON, then an HEIR OF GOD through Christ.”- Gal. 4:4-17.

Afterlife (Believers)

The term ‘AFTERLIFE” is not found in the bible. However, it is a term that refers to what life is like for people after they die in this human life on earth. For BELIEVERS, who are elect and redeemed sinners from among all the races and nations, it is an eternal blessed existence in the unseen heavenly realm in the visible presence of Christ.

After 70 ad., with the final judgments having been completed; all of God’s elect saints, upon their deaths, join the pre-70 ad saints in the New Jerusalem City where Christ is present. Each believer, after the second coming Parousia of Christ in 70ad, is part of the New Covenant gospel kingdom and has fully consummated salvation in Christ -Heb 9:28.

When they die, they immediately PUT ON their new incorruptible, immortal, glorified, spiritual, visible, heavenly body that has been waiting for them in heaven. Their old flesh and body falls away in decay to NEVER be seen again. – 1 Cor. 15:54. They are NEVER found unclothed when they die but are further clothed. Death of the mortal body is swallowed up by life of the new immortal body. -2 Cor 5:1-4. These elect children of God stand in the New Jerusalem in the external presence of CHRIST.

“Then I, John, saw the holy city, the New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, ‘Behold the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with the, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” – Rev 21:2-4

Afterlife (unbelievers)

For Unbelievers the “AFTERLIFE” is and external existence in the part of the unseen real identified as “Hell” or Lake of Fire. All unredeemed, unbelieve, sinners from all humanity are sentenced to eternal condemnation. They shall experience the righteous wrath of God forever. – Rom 2:5; 9:22; Eph. 5:6; Col 3:6; 1 Thess 5:9; Rev. 14:10-11

“He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who DOES NOT BELIEVE the son shall not see life, but the WRATH OF GOD abides on him.- John 3:36

The UNBELIEVERS live forever in a certain bodily form that does not include flesh and blood. They are disembodied from their physical bodies but have a different kind of bodily form that the bible does not fully describe for us. Christ told His Disciples that the unredeemed go to hell when they die. The bible at least mentions that they have “hands”, “feet”, and “eyes”, and their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched”. – Mark 9:43-48′ also see Isa 66:24.

Christ mentioned that a certain rich man in “torments” in Hades had “eyes” and a “tongue” and is able to “speak”, “think”, and “feel”. But that description goes no further. – Luke 16:22-24. The unredeemed shall not experience the graces of God in the Afterlife, since they rejected Him as their Savior. Their names are not written in the Book of Life and each of them had his part in the Lake of Fire. – Rev 20:15

Note: I’m still studying on the topic of “Hell” (Gehenna, etc. and its many meanings.)

Always learning, always growing. Always allowing scripture to interpret itself; always understanding it in context, HIS -Story and Truth! The question “who is the audience” is key!

A time to teach the Alphabet of Scripture- What is Abraham’s Bosom?

There Was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day. But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate, desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover, the dogs came and licked his sores. So it was that the beggar died and was carried by the angels to ABRAHAM’S BOSSOM. The rich man also died and was buried. And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw ABRAHAM afar off, and Lazarus in his BOSSOM. Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame,’ But Abraham said, Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted, and you are tormented. And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us. – Luke 16:19-26.

ABRAHAM’S BOSSOM is also referred as “Paradise” [Jesus told the thief on the cross that “today you will be with me in ‘Paradise’ –Luke 23:43] ABRAHAM’S BOSSOM was the place of the righteous dead in hades. It is only mentioned in Luke 16:22-23. Christ revealed it in His parable given to the Pharisees with His disciples also present to hear it.

Christ described Hades as two-sided with a bottomless pit, chasm, or great divide between, which no one can cross over. This shows that the wicked and the righteous both were conscious in Hades without their flesh and blood bodies. It also confirms that there were no second chances or universal reconciliation for those in Hades.

Christ said that a certain beggar named Lazarus had died and was carried by angels to ABRAHAM’S BOSSOM. Jesus also said that a certain rich man died and was buried and was in torments (Gr. ‘basanos” -Strong’s #931 = touchstone testing metals, hence torment; a condition of retribution). This was in the torment part of Hades for the O.T. unbelievers, who had died were waiting for their final judgement in 70.ad. The rich man saw Abraham and Lazarus afar off.

The rich man asked Abraham to have Lazarus dip his finger in water to cool his tongue because he was tormented in the flame. But Abraham said that rich man had received good things while alive, and Lazarus had a difficult life. Now after their deaths Lazarus was comforted and the rich man was in torment. Abraham also said that there was a great gulf fixed between the comfort side of Hades (i.e., ABRAHAM’S BOSOM) and the torment side of Hades; and no one could pass between those two places.

We believe that ABRAHAM’S BOSSOM (aka; “PARADISE”) was taken up to the outer courts of the third heaven from Hades at the ascension of Christ in 30ad. This was 40 days after His resurrection – Acts 1:3,9. That is when Christ led “captivity captive” according to Apostle Paul. – Eph 4:8-10.

Apostle Paul also wrote that he was personally caught up to the third heaven into PARADISE and heard inexpressible words. – 2 Cor. 12:2-4. Those deceased Old Covenant elect ssaints then waited captive there until they were raised and brought out by Christ at His Parousia in 66-70 ad. -1 Thess 4:13-17.

Abraham further explained that those in the place of torment did not listen to Moses and the prophets about the Messiah while they were alive; and they would not be persuaded even if one rises from the dead. [Christ rose from the grave after His crucifixion, also raising many deceased saints from Hades to witness in Jerusalem, but most of the Jews still did not believe). -Matt 27:52-53; Luke 23;27-31. This parable was given by Jesus to the Jews during His first coming in 26-30 ad. (See: Paradise”)

A time to teach the Alphabet of scripture.

The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.- John 14:26

In a world full of confusion on the matter of the Bible, I’ve found the simplicity of the scriptures and it starts with keeping it simple and allowing the scriptures to interpret the scriptures. Key is to keep it in context, understand the history in place and to whom it is speaking.

I’ve known and experienced God since I was a toddler. I have been seeking God since I was 13, but adamantly since my late 20’s when I lost my mother. I attended Bible college while also tandem attending secular college in early childhood education and psychology. I did this in a time in my life that I was raising three young children. I am so extremely thankful that God was with me the whole time. I’ve been involved in the ministry since my Savana was baptized in 2000. I was licensed and ordained into the Christian ministry in 2011- I interned and facilitated classes at my bible college for a few years during and after my time with Charis. I also spent many years in a few different early elementary schools teaching the little people. I spent a few years at the community college in the early childhood education program and also spent some time in the counseling office helping and guiding students. I loved all these different arenas of teaching, counseling and guiding that God has placed in my path. I share none of this in a boasting way but in mere awe of all the things God can do with any of us willing to follow His lead. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate all the people that encouraged, guided, corrected and loved me through all these years. I have had a lot of mentors on my journey; however, God taught me a long time ago to only seek HIM and allow the HOLY SPIRIT to be my teacher!

I only shared all that as an introduction to my God ordained gift as a teacher of His word, one I cherish deeply.

As a teacher I want to keep it simple, so I’ve decided to call this the Alphabet of Scriptures. I’m going to share simple yet powerful Bible terms and concepts for the next few months in hopes to bring light to all the confusion that all the doctrines, theologies and eschatology’s have brought to God’s perfect word. God is not a God of confusion, and I am so grateful for the information I am about to share. (Note: I will share my sources after lessons are complete, in hopes to stop biases from occurring.)

Today I will go over some A biblical terms and concepts:

Abomintaion

“And forces shall be mustered by him, and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress; then they shall take away the daily sacrifices, and place there the ‘ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION,’ -Dan 11:31

“So, when you see the ‘ABOMINTAION OF DESOLATION,’ spoken by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not” (let the reader understand), “then let those who are in Judea flee into the mountains”. -Mark 13:14

Jesus mentioned the ABOMINTION OF DESOLATION when His disciples, (Peter, James, John, and Andrew) asked Him privately when Jerusalem and the temple would be destroyed; what would the sign of His coming; and the end of the Jewish age. -Mark 13:2-4; Matt 24:1-3; Luke 21:5-7

He told them of many signs and events that would occur. Among them was His prophecy that they would see in THEIR GENERATION the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION that had been spoken of by Daniel the prophet. At that time those elect believers who were in Judea were to flee into the mountains because the desolation of Jerusalem was near. – Matt. 24:15-16; Luke 21:20-22

This ABOMINATIN OF DESOLATION event was probably when the Jewish Zealots took over the Holy of Holies in the temple and committed terrible acts of violence and sinful conduct therein, which violated the commandment of God. They took away the daily sacrifices, including the one for the Roman Emperor as a peace offering.

The Jewish Zealots desecrated the temple by besmirching the holy altar, corrupting the entire temple, and committing other forbidden abominations. God’s wrath was soon poured out resulting in the complete destruction of Jerusalem and the temple. Not one stone of the temple was left upon another that was not thrown down. -Matt 24:2

Luke reported (below) that the time for His disciples to flee was further evidenced when they saw the armies surrounding the city. These were not only the armies the Jewish Zealot factions inside and outside Jerusalem, but also the local Roman army of the last procurator of Judea (64-66 ad), Gessius Florus.

The Christians (i.e.; believing Jews) hurriedly fled the city to the mountains just ahead of the attack by Florus’ troops in the upper marketplace of the temple. This was on the 16th day of Iyar (gr. Artemisius) (Apri-May) in 66ad. More than 3,600 Jews were killed in that assault. The Zealots fought back and Florus ended his siege, returning to his administrative headquarters in Caesarea. This was before the main Roman Empire forces led by Vespasian and his son, Titus, got involved in the war a few months later.

“But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her. For these are the days of vengeance, THAT ALL THINGS WHICH ARE WRITTEN MY BE FULFILLED.” – Luke 21:20-22

Next lesson will be on Abraham’s Bosom, Adoption & Afterlife. Until then stay in the peace of God and avoid all the confusion of men’s doctrinal psyops
